We got a new coop for the chicks this weekend and now we are starting the process of hardening off. (Just like you do for seedlings, but for chickens! The point is to help them learn to regulate their temperature after being indoors and under a heat lamp. It also helps them develop the proper feathers to deal with the weather.) We’ll start by putting them in there for longer and longer periods during the day and eventually let them spend the night in there. Though not this week. According to the weather reports, we’re in for another cold snap.
